How the Entire Internet ‘Celebrated’ the SOPA/PIPA protest via Blackout
TweetOften it has happened, we searched for our favorite stuff on internet, got the major share of knowledge from Wikipedia, and we sighed, “We are at so ease today, just imagine a day without such a great support” and the day is here today. The 18th of January, the biggest ever encyclopedia, Wikipedia observed a 24 hours blackout in protest of the highly controversial topics and most trending hashtags of the recent days, the SOPA and PIPA.
Following the movement started by Wikipedia, almost every web based organization observed a blackout, or wore a message showing their disrespect and protest for the SOPA and PIPA. 18th of January 2011 shall be marked for such a worldwide movement always.
Coming to the topic of SOPA and PIPA, what the people must know, I’m sharing chunks of information here, rest every major site is currently fighting on the same, explaining each and every aspect of it in detail.
The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA) are the two legislations that the Congress is trying to pass, and January 24th shall be the date when the U.S. Senate will be voting on this act. It is feared that the U.S. government is planning to threaten the innovation of internet, and stifle freedom of speech under the false banner of anti-piracy efforts, and provide the government with far-reaching suppression abilities. The entire web world is worried as most of the web organizations originate from the US alone, and many other non-US are being hosted on servers located in US. Hence, any of the favorite blog, or site you read can be anytime blocked by the US government without due law execution. Though the acts claim that there won’t be any harm to sites like the Wikipedia, blogs, etc, but every web organization foresees this as a potential future threat and refers it to as a ‘Collateral Damage’ to them.

just a handful of leaders sitting in the parliament of every country must not think that they can take any decision which we common people have to forcefully follow even if its not acceptable…
