Do’s and Don’ts for Proper Dialogue in a Teleconference

Certain dynamics of the medium may make one too relaxed to perform good conference call etiquette, so it’s good to keep certain factors in mind once on a conference call:
- Do get in the zoneA business meeting is a business meeting, thus each participant outrider put themselves in a setting where they can concentrate on the agenda of the meeting, from wherever they are. Activity one would never perform at a physical staff meeting (jogging, videogame playing, eating dinner, etc.) should not be done at a teleconference.

- Do not interrupt or step on other people speakingParticipants in a conference call are expected to the respectful to the supervisor or moderator leading a discussion, and to the crucial information introduced by others. Talking over others, interruptions and disrespectful interjections clearly impede upon a reasonable and productive conversation and impairs the professionalism of the business meeting.
As the telephone conference will continue to be a dominant means of communication for organizations, they may increasingly become the face of the organization’s image and outreach to world. Proper dialogue on the call, to ensure optimal professional image for the company and its internal and customer relations, will therefore increasingly become a crucial aspect of constructively participating in those meetings.
