Enable Root Login in Ubuntu

In Ubuntu we need administrator privilege to make any changes or install packages manually, but default login via administrator is disabled. In Ubuntu, administrator known as root. So if we login via root we denied to login. Here is few steps to enable root login:

1. First login as a normal user.

2. Go to “System->Administrator->Login Window” on above menu. See the screenshot below

3. They prompt you to enter password for authentication, enter your login password.

4. After the successful authentication, a window is open now click on “security” tab. You will find “Allow Local System Administrator login”, tick the checkbox and close the window. Now logout and login as a user.

    You are using older version of Ubuntu…
    The latest version doesn’t have the “Login Window” option, it is changed to “Login Screen”. Also the options inside it are not the same…It is relatively easier to move to root using the Terminal.

      Thanks buddy for your tips, Many of users are still on old version of ubuntu, so that why i wrote this article and In New version you can login easily via root without any changes, and ofcourse it’s more easy to move on root user via terminal.
