‘Google Chrome OS’ Good or Bad

Recently Google launches it new Chrome based OS. There’s a lot of speculation going on about Google OS; a lot of it is that its’ too different to work. Well I bring Some Good and Bad things about Google Chrome OS.

Why Chrome OS Will be Good

1. Free of Cost. The Linux Distros has been around for years for free and name Google that’s familiar to everyone which give you the free and affordable services.

2. Open Source. The Google Chrome OS has been an Open Source means that it can be improved by anyone anywhere.

3. Secure System. Today Almost max. virus is created for windows OS so, this virus can’t damage Linux OS.

4. No hard drive needed. In chrome OS, all your files will be stored in a secure server. If you get hit by a virus you don’t need to worry about your hard drive failing.

Why Chrome OS will be Bad

1. Always Online. You need to be on the net always, You have to do everything online and not offline. This is by far the biggest concern I have with Chrome

2. Spy Eye. Google Can see everything you do. You will using their servers to store anything and everything from you computer.

3. Tech Expert. You need to be a tech genius to make the most of it.

4. Chance to Loose. If Google Server fails you loose all your files which one you stored. On hard disk you can backup your drive but if server down you can’t able to access file.

    Cloud Computing has it’s own pros and cons. It would be interesting to see how Chrome OS deals with them.

    Nice. I wont go to the extent whether it is good or bad. I would say “Why?”

    Why would I store my documents online? It is ridiculous. Which is cheaper? Hard disk or Internet bandwidth? Obviously hard disks. Today TBs of harddisks are available at low prices then why would I spend on internet bandwidth.

    Secondly, wat about high definition multimedia. Considering the speeds that I get in India, streaming of such content is next to impossible.

    Thirdly, suppose I suspect a phishing attempt, I can do nothing about it if my files are stored in the cloud. Whereas, if I have a local storage, once I remove the network cable, I can say with guarantee that my data is safe.

    These are my concerns with cloud computing. Not gonna replace hard disks (local storage) for atleast 10 years.

      Thanks for your comment Jal, Well In India Cloud Computing is not possible, but it already enter in business world, now website are preparing on cloud servers and also microsoft also launched their cloud OS.
      Well Cloud computing is not good for personal computers.
